PhunnMakers Mas Band was established and launched in the year 2001 by three like-minded fun-loving individuals: Ashley Allers, Lyndon Berry and Christine Walwyn. After recognizing a significant decline in the participation in our National Carnival parade and the fact that mas players were looking for something exciting, the group decided to produce a Carnival Troupe that would offer the ultimate carnival experience. After much deliberation the name Fun Makers was chosen, but when it was dicussed with our now, resident Communications Manager, Claudette "Polly" Manchester, she advised not be ordinary, but stand out from amongst the rest and use “PH” instead of “F” to add some flair. It was also decided to go all the way and add an extra “n” to place more emphasis on the word fun. The rest is history, now you know the full story of how we got the name PhunnMakers.
Over the years, we have been known as the premier all-inclusive Carnival Troupe which provides all of our masqueraders with the ultimate party on the road. Our masqueraders also enjoy non-stop partying with unlimited food and drinks and costumes that are stunning, authentic and cultural are all important fixtures of our band. This carnival mas band has won a number of accolades over the years such as Most Colourful, Largest Band, Most Creative, Overall Winners and sometimes we were the only carnival band on the road. PhunnMakers provides a friendly and family environment for all ensuring that each patron will definitely have more "phunn". Our crew certainly looks forward to all our present loyal masqueraders as well as new ones joining us to share in the carnival experience on the road for New Years and Last Lap.
